Visiting the Media Center
During the instructional day, students need a library pass to visit the library.
A limit of 4 students on passes per teacher unless other arrangements have been made between the librarian and teacher.
Library Expectations
Students visiting the library on a pass are required to sign in at the Circulation Desk.
Students are expected to show respect by working quietly and leaving the area clean and neat.
Students are expected to speak in a manner that is appropriate in the library.
Students are not allowed to talk on the phone in the library. You will be asked to leave for failing to follow expectations. Repeated offenses will result in the loss of library privileges.
Students will not bring food or drinks into the library. (Water is permitted.)
Circulation: Checking out books
- Students may check out up to two books at a time.
- Books are circulated to students for two weeks.
- Students who have overdue library books may check-out one book until others have been returned.
Returning Books (Check-In)
- Students must return all books within two weeks from the date the book was checked out. Students are reminded of overdue books by email during the school year.
- If a book is needed for a longer check-out period, students may renew it for another two-week period.
Lost/Damaged Books
- When a student loses a book, he/she will be charged the cost of replacing the book.
- When a student destroys or damages a book, he/she must pay a fine. This fine will be equal to the cost of the book.
Printing in the Library
- Students must email documents they need printed. Only items for classes will be printed.
Makerspace
- Teachers may send two students at a time to the library to use the Makerspace area. They will be able to choose from various activities. Students may stay 30 minutes at a time and individual students may visit no more than once a day.
Laptop Issues
- If you are having laptop issues, you should bring your device to the media center for trouble-shooting or replacement. If the laptop needs to be sent for repair, students will be issued another laptop.
- Students should report laptop issues no longer than 3:30 p.m.
